Dutch-Bangla Bank Limited is a joint venture bank located in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It was founded by local shareholders led by M Sahabuddin Ahmed and the Dutch company FMO. The bank focuses on financing high-growth manufacturing industries in Bangladesh, with the aim of promoting the export of Bangladeshi products worldwide. Dutch-Bangla Bank is also known for its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives and is considered a pioneer in this sector. It has become one of the largest donors in Bangladesh and has won several international awards for its socially conscious approach. The bank was the first in Bangladesh to be fully automated, with the establishment of its Electronic-Banking Division in 2002. It introduced plastic money to the masses and operates the largest ATM fleet in the country, significantly reducing consumer costs and fees. Despite its heavy investments in technology and donations, Dutch-Bangla Bank has maintained strong consumer and investor confidence, with its stock setting a record for the highest share price in the Dhaka Stock Exchange in 2008.
