Berg Montana Fittings EAD, which was established as a state metal foundry in 1960, is one of the leading fittings manufacturers on the Balkans. The company, based in the northwestern town of Montana, produces cast iron pipe fittings, iron and steel castings and other details.
In May 1994, Switzerland's Berg AG purchased 50.04% in Fitingi for DEM 3.6 million and renamed the factory into Berg Montana Fitingi. In August 1996, Spanish company Accesorios de Tuberia purchased the stake of Berg AG for an undisclosed sum. In July 2000, Bulgaria's Privatisation Agency sold 33.27% of the fittings maker to Atusa-based Accesorios de Tuberia for BGN 211,103. The buyer, which expanded its stake to 83.3% after the second purchase, paid 50% of the price in cash and 50% in government debt bonds.
