Festo Production EOOD (Bulgaria)

German industrial automation and controls systems maker Festo AG set foot in Bulgaria in 1987 by establishing the first joint-venture controlled by a foreign company under the country's communist regime. It produces proximity sensors and accessories, together with plugs and pre-assembled cables. The company launched production in the Balkan state in 1990 after a local small-scale machine building plant Pnevmoautomatika was incorporated into the tie-up.
In 1993, the venture called Festo Mashinex was renamed into Festo Bulgaria and was fully acquired by the Austrian arm of Festo. In early 2001, the production unit of Festo Bulgaria split into a separate company called Festo Production.
In September 2002, Festo opened a EUR 14 million, 9,400-square metres production unit and engineering centre in the capital Sofia, which specialises in sensor assembly, plastic moulding & laser processing. In 2014 a new production building with a total area of 8724 square meters is built, thus the company doubled production and tripled logistics areas.
The product range of Festo Production includes more than 1300 types of products and its daily average production consists of 18 000 sensors, 8700 cables, more than 4500 fasteners and 5500 valve modules.
