French electrical equipment maker Schneider Electric set foot in Bulgaria in 1990 via the Merlin Gerin and Telemecanique brands. The global specialist in energy management established its wholly-owned Bulgarian subsidiary in February 1998. A year later, Schneider Electric acquired the circuit breakers unit of Bulgarian electronics maker EAZ located in the southern town of Perushtitsa. In 2007 the company opened a plant in Plovdiv, where the Perushtitsa production and production lines were relocated.
Schneider Electric Bulgaria is engaged in the manufacture and wholesale distribution of electrical equipment. The company offers solutions in the area of power and control, critical power, energy efficiency, automation and renewable energy. The local unit is headquartered in the capital Sofia and operates branch offices in the towns of Varna, Burgas and Plovdiv.
