Hungarian Contract Manufacturing company Videoton entered the Bulgarian market in 1999 by acquiring a stake in local magnetic storage device producer DZU. In May 1999, Bulgaria's Privatisation Agency sold 48% in the country's former high-tech flagship to Videoton for USD 54,200. The Hungarian electronics company, which was the only bidder for DZU, pledged to invest USD 645,161 in the company over a three-year period. Videoton Bulgarian Holdings (VTBH) EOOD was established after the acquisition to manage the investments of and short-term loans of the new owner and acts as a direct contact to the most important partners. Today the group comprises 4 companies, all located in the town of Stara Zagora - DZU AD, engaged in the lease of premises and equipment and VEAS BG, VTBH and VT Bulplast, active in the manufacture of electronics and assembly of electro mechanical devices.
