Operaciones Metalúrgicas S.A. (OMSA) is a company located in Oruro, Bolivia. It was established in 1986 after the mining crisis caused by the fall of the London Metal Exchange (LME) in 1982. This crisis led to the relocation of hundreds of miners to other departments and resulted in a 20-year depression in Bolivia's tin mining industry. In 1992, OMSA acquired the dismantled Bertzeilius foundry from Germany. It took 5 years to assemble the purchased equipment and machinery while continuing to work and export their metal. Currently, the company has new and upgraded equipment, ensuring production with controlled levels of purity and impurities. OMSA exports its products to Europe, North America, South America, and Asia.
