Under the trade name of Banco Industrial do Brasil, the institution started its activities in January 1994, after the purchase of Banco Santista from Grupo Bunge y Born, established in 1988. Initially focused on treasury operations, it redirected its strategy towards credit as from 1995, which until today is its main source of income. The bank is permeated by a conservative policy.
