Santos-Brasil Participacoes manages and operates TECON 1, the leading container terminal in South America, located at the Porto de Santos, in the State of São Paulo. TECON 1 was the first terminal specializing in containers in South America. It was formed in 1997, and began to operate and manage TECON 1 in November of that year following the successful bid by its then-current shareholders in the privatization auction held in September 1997.
