Gas Atacama Chile S.A. is a power generation company located in the Antofagasta Region of Chile. It was established in 1996 by Endesa Chile and CMS Energy through Gas Atacama Holding Ltda. The company operates a combined-cycle power plant with a total installed capacity of 780 MW. It also has a gas pipeline that spans 941 km, connecting Chile with the Province of Jujuy, Argentina, as well as a smaller pipeline in Chile measuring 224 km. Gas Atacama supplies natural gas to various mining and industrial customers. In 2014, Enel Generación Chile acquired a 50% shareholding of Gas Atacama Holding, gaining a controlling position in the company. Gas Atacama underwent a process of corporate simplification in 2016, resulting in its merger with Central Eléctrica Tarapacá S.A. and becoming the surviving corporation. Enel Generación Chile currently holds a 97.4% shareholding of Gas Atacama. The company focuses on electricity generation, providing power to mining companies, industrial customers, and its parent company. It has a total installed capacity of 1,885 MW and owns various power plants, including hydroelectric, thermoelectric, and wind power plants.
