Guacolda Energia S.A. (Chile)

Guacolda Energia S.A. is an electricity generation and sales company with over 25 years of presence in the electricity sector. It supplies both regulated and free mining-industrial and commercial customers throughout Chile, primarily in the northern region. The Guacolda thermal power plant, located in Huasco, Atacama Region, has a strategic location in the National Electric System, providing secure, reliable, flexible, and competitive energy. It consists of five coal-based thermal power generating units, each with a capacity of 152 MW, manufactured by Mitsubishi, which inject their electricity through two transmission lines. Each unit is equipped with state-of-the-art technology for emissions control, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and commitments. Currently, Guacolda Energia S.A. employs around 190 highly specialized individuals, most of whom work at the thermal power plant. The company plays an important social role in the Huasco area, not only as one of the main sources of employment but also through a comprehensive program of social and community support activities. These include support for farmers, competitive funds for entrepreneurs, agreements with artisanal fishermen, financing for green areas, educational scholarships, and support in health and sports, among others.
