The predecessor of the group was an agrochemical factory in Shashi known as Shashi Agrochemical Factory which was established in 1958. On 30th Sep. 1992, Hubei Sanonda Co., Ltd. was formally established based on the restructuring of the original enterprise. In Sep. 1993, approved by the Hubei provincial Government and the CSRC, the company issued 30 million Renminbi-denominated ordinary shares which became listed on the SZSE on Dec. 3, 1993, and the company's B shares were listed on May15, 1997 on Shenzhen Stock Exchange. Hubei Sanonda was the first to passed ISO9001 quality management system certification and ISO14001 environment management system certification in the industry. The company is mainly engaged in the manufacture and sale of agricultural chemical products. It provides agricultural chemical products including pesticides, weed-killers, bactericides and active compounds. Its products include Dusibai, Dibaichong, Didiwei, Baicaoku, among others. The company is also involved in the production of fertilizers, petrochemical and refining products, specialty chemicals and basic industrial chemical products, such as chlor-alkali. On January 31, 2011, the company announced its purchase of 98% of the equity of Jingzhou Hongxiang Chemicals Co., Ltd.
