The commenced its operations in 2011 by procuring pre-owned phones and other consumer electronics from consumers through AHS Recycle.
2011 The Company was incorporated under the laws of the Cayman Islands on November 22, 2011. The Company through its subsidiaries (collectively, the “Group”) primarily sell pre-owned consumer electronics through its online platforms and offline stores, and provide services to third-party merchants to sell the products through its platforms. The Group's principal operations and geographic markets are in the People's Republic of China (“PRC”).
2014, the Company s expanded to offline channels by opening self-operated AHS stores in popular shopping malls.
2015, it s started cooperating with e-commerce platforms such as JD.com, and consumer electronics brands such as Xiaomi, to attract their user traffic to its offline AHS stores for trade-in. In an attempt to further leverage its supply chain capabilities and quality inspection, grading and pricing capability accumulated in years of its business operations, in late 2017, it launched PJT Marketplace, an online bidding platform where AHS Recycle and third-party merchants sell pre-owned consumer electronics to buyers, primarily small merchants and retailers, and, in 2019, the Company s acquired Paipai Marketplace, a B2C transaction platform for pre-owned products, from JD Group.
2021 The Company changed its name from AiHuiShou International Co. Ltd. to ATRenew Inc. effective November 15, 2021. The Company is ADSs have been listed on the New York Stock Exchange since June 18, 2021 under the symbol “RERE.”
2022, the Company terminated the former variable interest entity ( VIE ) arrangements between Shanghai Aihui Trading Co., Ltd (“Shanghai Aihui”), Shanghai Wanwuxinsheng Environmental Protection Technology Group Co., Ltd. (previously Shanghai Yueyee Network Information Technology Co., Ltd) (“Shanghai Yueyee” or “Shanghai Wanwuxinsheng”) and its subsidiaries, and the shareholders of Shanghai Wanwuxinsheng, transferred their equity interests in former VIE to Shanghai Aihui. Following such termination and share transfer, Shanghai Wanwuxinsheng became the Company s subsidiary in which the Company holds direct equity ownership interests of 100 .
