The Company is a real estate developer that strategically focuses on selected high growth cities in China and the United States. The Company focus on developing large scale quality residential projects, which typically consist of multiple residential buildings that include multi-layer apartment buildings, sub-high-rise apartment buildings or high-rise apartment buildings. Several of its projects include auxiliary services and amenities such as retail outlets, leisure and health facilities, kindergartens and schools. The Company also develops small-scale residential properties. The Company s China developments aim at providing middle-class consumers with a comfortable and convenient community life. In addition, the Company provides property management services for its developments and other real estate-related services to its customers. The Company acquires development sites in China primarily through public auctions of government land and acquisitions of entities.
HISTORY
The Company is a Cayman Islands holding company and conducts substantially all of its business through s operating subsidiaries in China.
1997 The Company was founded by Yong Zhang, its Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, and commenced operations in 1997 in Zhengzhou, the provincial capital of Henan Province.
2006 Since 2006, it has expanded into other Tier II cities in China which it strategically selected based on a set of criteria. Selection criteria includes population and urbanization growth rate, general economic condition and growth rate, disposable income and purchasing power of resident consumers, anticipated demand for private residential properties, availability of future land supply and land prices and governmental urban planning and development policies. It has established operations in seven Tier II cities in China, comprised of Chengdu in Sichuan Province, Hefei in Anhui Province, Jinan in Shandong Province, Suzhou, Kunshan and Xuzhou in Jiangsu Province and Zhengzhou in Henan Province.
2007 The Company was incorporated in the Cayman Islands on March 26, 2007. The Company operates under Cayman Islands Companies Laws (2009 Revision). It common stock trade under the symbol “XIN.”
2012 In 2012, the Group expanded its business into the U.S. residential real estate market.
2016 On January 14, 2016, the Company acquired a parcel of land, located on 10th Avenue and between 44th Street and 45th Street, in Midtown Manhattan for US 57.5 million.
2017 On April 19, 2017, the Company signed an agreement to acquire up to 70 equity interest of Qingdao Huiju Zhihui City Industrial Development Co., Ltd.
2018 On March 21, 2018, the Company acquired from ED Group, a 50 equity stake in MDL, the developer of the Madison Project, via our wholly-owned subsidiary Xinyuan International (HK) Property Investment Co., Limited for a total consideration of GBP29.5 million equivalent to US 41.4 million.
2019 In July 2019, the Company acquired 24 equity interest in Suzhou Rongjingchen Real Estate Co., Ltd. In November 2019, the Group acquired Beijing Ruizhuo Xitou Development Co., Ltd. (“Xitou”), a related party, for a total consideration of US 16,486,299, which was satisfied by the extinguishment of a pre-existing receivable. In November 2019, the Group acquired Beijing Ruizhuo Xichuang Technology Development Co., Ltd. (“Xichuang”), a related party, for a total consideration of US 11,212,797, which was satisfied by the extinguishment of a pre-existing receivable. In November 2019, the Group acquired Beijing I-Journey Science and Technology Development Co,Ltd.(“I-Journey”), a related party, for a total consideration of US 21,062,847
2020 As of December 31, 2020, the Group's investment in the investees in the aggregate exceeded its proportionate share of the net assets of the equity method investee by nil
