Founded in May 1983 under the name CEDSA, the company’s main activity was the manufacturing of flexible cables. In 2004 it merged with the Mexican company CONDUMEX, expanding its portfolio of products. In February 2007 a large proportion of the company shares were acquired by Grupo Multinacional MADECO, the largest producer of cables in Latin America. In September 2008 the French group NEXANS acquired 100% of CEDSA and renamed the company to NEXANS COLOMBIA S.A. Now the company produces and sells cables for electrical power distribution, industry, telecommunications and buildings. The main production plant in Colombia is situated in Bucaramanga and the company has stores in Cali, Pereira, Manizales, Medellin, Bogotá, Barranquilla and Cucuta.
