In 1991, Dopravni podnik was transformed into a joint-stock company, with the city of Prague being its sole owner. The company is also a shareholder in other transportation-related businesses. It focuses on improving the quality of its services, including ticket offerings, pre-sale locations and machines, transportation regularity, implementation of public transportation preferences, and communication with passengers. Dopravni podnik operates the metro system in Prague, which consists of three lines (A, B, and C) with a total length of 65.4 km and 61 stations. It also aims to reduce emissions by purchasing new vehicles with low-emission engines (EEV) or testing alternative propulsion systems.
