Moog Brno S.R.O. is a company located in Brno, Czech Republic. It was originally established in August 1947 as a research and development center for Moravské elektrotechnické závodů (MEZ) with the goal of reviving the engineering industry after World War II. The center focused on developing electrical machines and devices. In the 1960s, the center's activities expanded to include the development of low-voltage asynchronous motors, high-voltage asynchronous motors, DC and AC commutator machines, alternators, and special motors for specific applications. In 1964, the center was incorporated into the plant of the High Current Electrical Engineering Prague. During the 1970s and 1980s, the center responded to demands for new commodities by developing dynamometers, low voltage asynchronous motors, direct current motors for heavy traffic, electric drives for road traction, and aircraft equipment. In the 1990s, the center made a technological breakthrough by using permanent magnets from rare earths in electrical machines. This led to the development of a new series of synchronous servomotors with permanent magnets on the rotor. The center also began developing synchronous linear motors. Between 1990 and 1993, an independent development and production company was created, which later became known as VUES Brno s.r.o. In 2018, VUES Brno s.r.o. became part of the American multinational Moog group and changed its name to Moog Brno s.r.o. Since 2021, Moog Brno has specialized in the development, design, and production of special servomotors, servoactuators, and linear motors. The company has also relocated to new production and office premises in Brno Lišeň to facilitate further development.
