Banco Central de Ecuador was founded after the Revolution Juliana (July 9th, 1925) which sought to initiate the establishment of a national bank issuer. The institution is an independent public body whose function is to be the monetary authority of the country through the promotion of economic and financial stability, analysis, evaluation, design and implementation of economic policies and financial instruments. In addition, the Bank implements the monetary regime, manages the payment system, invests the available reserves and acts as a holder of the public funds and as a financial and fiscal agent in the country.
