E-Mart Inc. is the largest retailer in South Korea. It was founded in 1993 by Shinsegae as the country's first discount retailer. E-Mart sells a wide range of products, including groceries, consumer goods, electronics, beauty and healthcare products. The company operates through online shopping, specialty stores, and supermarkets. As of November 2018, E-Mart has approximately 145 stores in South Korea, Vietnam, and Mongolia. In 2006, E-Mart acquired Walmart Korea and converted 16 Walmart stores into E-Mart stores. E-Mart is a subsidiary of Shinsegae, which is owned by Lee Myung-Hee.
