DFDS LISCO is one of the biggest line operators in the Baltic states. The company was established in 2001 as a result of the privatization of the Lithuanian Shipping Company founded in 1969. The major shareholder of DFDS LISCO is a Danish shipping company DFDS A/S. The core activity of DFDS LISCO is cargo and passenger transportation by 8 multipurpose ships and 7 ro-pax ferries. The company is the operator of Klaipeda-Kiel, Klaipeda-Zassnits and Klaipeda-Karlshamn lines. As from 2004 DFDS LISCO has taken over from DFDS the passenger service on Ryga-Luebeck and Ventspils-Luebeck lines. As from 2004 the company took over the ships' agent service providing it both for its liner ro-pax vessels and DFDS liner vessels sailing from Klaipeda. The composition of the cargoes carried by Lisco vessels are mainly auto-trailers, trailers, containers as well as general cargoes. DFDS LISCO is ISO 9001, ISM and ISPS Codes certified company concentrating on the service quality improvement as well as passenger and drivers safety and comfort aboard. Today, the company employs over 700 seafarers and office staff including the subsidiaries.
