Mechel Nemunas UAB (Lithuania)

Mechel Nemunas UAB, located in Kaunas, is a company that is part of the Mechel Group. The company recently acquired 256 new mining transport units and equipment, including heavy-duty trucks, excavators, bulldozers, and boring rigs. They have also invested in upgrading the wire-and-rope facility at the Beloretsk Metallurgical Plant, launching eight new wire drawing benches. Mechel Group has invested approximately one billion rubles in ecological measures in the regions where they operate. Izhstal, another company within the group, has almost completed an ecological project to reduce waste emissions into the atmosphere. Mechel Coke has upgraded its by-product recovery plant's ammonia system to decrease wastewater output and ensure stable operation. The Beloretsk Metallurgical Plant has introduced 30 new hardware types, including wire for surgical needles, which won a gold medal at Russia's Metal-Expo'2022 exhibition. The Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant has also expanded its product range, including thermostrengthened rebar and round rolled longs and sections. Mechel has started pilot operations at the Sivaglinsky iron ore deposit in Yakutia and plans to ship the first batch of iron ore to the Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant in early 2023.
