The Scientific Research Institute RIF-Acvaaparat SA started its activity in 1957 as the Special Design Office within Raut SA. In 1962, it was removed from the plant and was turned into a special design office in the field of radioelectronics with economic self-management. In 1996 the entity was reorganized into a joint stock company. So far, the company has retained its narrow specialization of hydro-acoustic equipment manufacturer: fathometer, hydro-acoustic ice exploration stations, hydro-acoustic sites, short-range hydro-accelerators, hydro-acoustic diving equipment, etc. Production is intensely exported to shipping companies in the Russian Federation and China. The company manages production facilities of 8,000 m.p., located on a 1 ha land in public property.
