Bolsa Mexicana de Valores S.A.B. de C.V. (Mexican Stock Exchange) is currently the only stock exchange in Mexico. It operates under a concession granted by the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit, in terms of the Securities Market Law. The BMV is responsible for providing technology, systems and self-regulatory rules under which it operates the Mexican stock market, mainly on registration, negotiation and registration of shares, participation certificates, debt securities and warrants.
It was established in 1886, under the name “Bolsa Mercantil de Mexico”. In 1975 it changed its name to “Bolsa Mexicana de Valores”, integrating the other two stocks markets, Guadalajara and Monterrey. Finally, on June 13th 2008, it started to be a listed company, and its shares started to have activity in BMV, under the name “Bolsa”.
