Minera Barrick Misquichilca is a wholly owned subsidiary of Barrick Gold Corporation (Barrick). MBM was established in Peru in 1994 and has been dedicated to the production and sales of gold. It also supports related activities such as exploration, development, mining and processing. The company began operations in 1998 and currently operates two mines: Pierina and Lagunas Norte; it owns the deposits of Irene I-500. It is also the second largest national gold producer, with a participation of 18.9% of the total production in 2011. The company is specialised in the production, sales and marketing of gold in the form of Doré bars and silver. MBM exports 82% of its production to Switzerland, other of its export markets include Canada and Chile. The company is currently listed on the Lima Stock Exchange.
