Telefónica del Perú S.A.A. was born from the merger between Compañía Peruana de Teléfonos S.A. and Empresa Nacional de Telecomunicaciones S.A. in 1994. Years later, Telefónica Perú Holding S.A.C. acquired them completely. In 2012 it changes its trade name to Movistar. Movistar has several lines of business: wire-line, public and rural telephony; long distance telephony, Internet, paid television, data and information technologies, but its main activity remains the mobile phone service. The company has subsidiaries such as Telefonica Multimedia, Telefonica Commercial Services, Star Global Com, Telefonica Moviles and Wayra Accelerator Project Peru S.A.C.
