NGK Ceramics Polska Sp. z o.o. is a production plant located in Gliwice, Poland. It is part of the international group of companies NGK Insulators, Ltd., a global leader in the production of technological materials. The NGK group originated from a ceramic materials factory founded in Japan in 1919, which is now known as NGK Insulators, Ltd. The NGK Ceramics Polska Sp. z o.o. production plant was built as a "Green field" investment in the Katowice Special Economic Zone in Gliwice in 2003, and its first products were produced in November 2004. The main factory and headquarters of NGK Ceramics Polska are located in Gliwice, specializing in the production of SiC DPF - ceramic diesel particulate filters made of silicon carbide, which remove soot particles and other components from exhaust gases, making them safer for the environment and people. In addition to the SiC DPF business, the company also successfully produces ceramic elements made of cordierite, such as large-sized LSH ceramic substrates used as catalytic converters in diesel engines, as well as DPF and GPF filters for gasoline engines. In 2019, a new building for the production of NOx sensors was inaugurated. These sensors are used for continuous measurement of nitrogen oxide content in vehicle exhaust gases and other engine parameters. Currently, NGK Ceramics Polska employs over 3400 people in Gliwice. The company's second plant in Poland is located in Dąbrowa Górnicza, specializing in the production of silicon carbide DPF filters. The number of employees in the Dąbrowa factory has already exceeded 1300.
