Compania Columbus Operational SRL (formerly known as Billa Romania) has been present in Romania since February 1999, when the first supermarket was inaugurated in the Titan quarter of Bucharest. Later, the Bucharest chain was expanded to three units and stores were also built in Ploiesti, Arad, Timisoara, Cluj, Deva, Constanta, Galati, Craiova and Iasi. In 2010, Billa chain of stores was expanded in almost all counties. Since July 2016 Billa Romania became a part of the french group Carrefour and the name of the company was change to Columbus Operational SRL.
