Distribuție Energie Oltenia SA (CEZ Distributie SA) was established in August 2007 from the former Electrica Oltenia SA (the biggest of the eight subsidiaries of Electrica SA)and took over the activity of electric energy distribution and the distribution assets of the former company. The Czech company CEZ a.s. bought the majority stake (of 51%) in Electrica Oltenia for EUR 166.5 mil. In October 2006, 12% stake in Electrica Oltenia owned by Electrica SA was transfered to Fondul Proprietatea SA. In August 2007 Electrica Oltenia SA splits into two distinct companies: CEZ Distributie SA and CEZ Vanzare SA, which had the same stakes as in the initial company. The company supplies electric energy for Arges, Dolj, Gorj, Olt, Mehedinti, Teleorman and Valcea counties.
