Iar SA was founded in 1925 as a joint stock company with mixed capital, the first Romanian airplane factory "The Romanian Aeronautical Industry - IAR Brasov." Today Iar SA is one of the main pillars of the aviation industry in Romania. The main activity of the company is repair and maintenance of aircraft and spacecraft, with production and delivery over 360 Alouette III and Puma helicopters under Aerospatiale license, 830 gliders and motorgliders and 136 light aircraft in its own conception.
