Uniqa Asigurari SA (Romania)

Unita was set up in September 1990 in Timisoara and started its activity on January 1st, 1991. The insurer had 100% local private capital. In early 2001, Austrian Wienerstaedtische became the major shareholder of Unita, by taking over 51% in the company. By the end of 2001, the Austrian company managed to acquire the rest of the shares up to 99% through Wiener Stadtische Allgemeine Versicherung AG and converted into the sole shareholder of the insurer. In April 2007, Wiener Stadtische Versicherung AG Vienna Insurance Group sold 55.0013% stake to Omniasig SA. In 2008 Austrian group Uniqa becomes the only shareholder of Unita Vienna Insurance Group.
