Interregional Distribution Grid Company of Volga was established on June 29, 2007 in Saratov. The Board of Directors of OAO RAO UES of Russia took the decision to create IDGC of Volga, JSC on April 27, 2007, when the new IDGC configuration was established. The principles of territorial conjugacy and the price comparability of distribution grid companies' assets being a part of IDGC lie at the root of the new configuration. It preserves the current technological connections between RGC within the framework of IDGC. Since April 1, 2008 IDGC of Volga, JSC has been functioning as the unified operating company with branches "Mordovenergo", "Orenburgenergo", "Penzaenergo", "Samara distribution grids", "Saratov distribution grids", "Ulyanovsk distribution grids" and "Chuvashenergo". IDGC of Volga, JSC activity covers 7 regions of 403 thousand square km of total area, with the population over 13 million people. The total length of transmission lines exceeds 222 thousand km. The number of people working for IDGC of Volga, JSC account for 21 thousand persons.
