The company was originally established in 1963 under the name "Al-Madina Printing & Publishing Co." and later changed its name to Saudi Printing & Packaging Company in 2007. 30% of its shares were offered to the public, while the Saudi Research & Marketing Group (SRMG) and its subsidiaries hold 70% of the company's shares. Saudi Printing & Packaging Company operates advanced newspaper printing centers in Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam. It prints major newspapers such as Alsharq Al-Awsat, Al-Eqtisadiah, Al-Riyadiah, Arab News, Al-Watan, and others, as well as serial commercial publications. The company is also involved in the packaging and plastic industry, with factories located in Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Riyadh, Jeddah, and Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah.
