Lesopolnohospodarsky Majetok Ulic, statny podnik, is a state-owned company located in the village of Ulic. It was founded on June 30, 1988, by the founding charter of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Slovak Republic. The company is registered in the Commercial Register of the District Court of Presov under section Pš, entry no. 5/P. It operates as a commercial organization with permanent production, trade, and service provision rights, focusing on agricultural production, forestry, and wood processing. Ulic is situated in the southern part of the Bukovske Vrchy mountains, near the state borders of Ukraine and Poland. The area is known for its unique natural environment, including steep slopes, deep forests, and mountain streams. The territory is covered by continuous forests, predominantly consisting of beech trees. There are preserved forests with primeval structures that are unique in Slovakia and are strictly protected as reserves. The company operates within the territory of the East Carpathians Biosphere Reserve, which is the only reserve in the world consisting of connected areas of three countries: Slovakia, Poland, and Ukraine. Currently, the company manages 24,759 hectares of forest land, of which 18,457 hectares are owned by the state, and 2,384 hectares are agricultural land, including 617 hectares of arable land. Most of the managed area is located within the Poloniny National Park, which imposes significant restrictions on economic activities. Additionally, due to the construction of the Starina Water Reservoir, seven villages were relocated, and the company manages 3,600 hectares of forest land and nearly 900 hectares of agricultural land within the sanitary protection zones of the reservoir, which further limits its management conditions. The management of agricultural and forest land in the conditions of the Poloniny sub-region, with its long-standing tradition, is seen as the most natural and effective combination, allowing for the preservation of sustainable settlement and socio-economic development of this peripheral region of Slovakia.
