The company was founded in 1933 as a subsidiary of the Ministry of Defense, with five aircraft and 19 passengers capacity. As of September 2013 the Turkish Airlines fleet include 231 aircraft with an average age of 6.6 years, 9 of them are cargo aircraft. In 2013 were ordered 95 new aircraft from Boing and 117 from Airbus, with this till 2021 the fleet of the company will include 421 aircraft. Turkish Airlines' main goal is to provide domestic and international air transportation and cargo services. Turkish Airlines' established routes are covering domestic routes as well as international flights to Europe, Africa, North America, the Far East and the Middle East. It operates passenger services, technical services, cargo services and training services to other airlines. Turkish Airlines' generates 90% of revenues from passenger traffic and 10% from scheduled cargo traffic.
