Mehmet Zorlu started his career in weaving, which was his family's profession, and later expanded into trade. Along with his brother, Zeki, they established the Yükselen Collective Company in Babadağ in 1953. The company focused on selling linens produced in the district as well as their own products. They prioritized honesty and quality in their trade, which earned them a reputation for reliability. The Zorlu Group, which is now one of Turkey's largest holdings, has grown to become a family of nearly 30,000 employees. Mehmet Zorlu passed away in 2005, but his legacy of trust and hard work continues to guide the company.
