Mosel Vitelic Inc. was established in 1991 through the merger of MOSEL Ectronics Taiwan Inc. (which had been established on January 8, 1987, and began operations on April 3, 1987) and US company Vitelic Corporation. Mosel Vitelic was listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange in September 1995. In order to maximize its return on investment and achieve more efficient utilization of its wafer fabrication plants, Mosel Vitelic decided to withdraw from the DRAM market in 2003. The company began a period of consolidation, and transformed itself into an IC foundry business. To enhance the company's competitiveness, all Mosel Vitelic employees have worked tirelessly to reduce costs, achieve improvements in efficiency, and develop advanced technologies. Mosel Vitelic is constantly striving to strengthen its product mix, improve its yield rate and provide customers with the best possible service. Demand for portable and multimedia devices is growing steadily, and will continue to grow in the future. Power MOSFET, Power Management ICs, Analog ICs, LCD driver ICs, ROM and Logic ICs are all vital components for these types of products. Mosel Vitelic will be focusing on Power Discrete, Power Management IC and Analog IC technology, working actively to develop more advanced production process technology in line with market needs, and building up a solid foundation for future growth. In 2006, Mosel Vitelic decided to enter the Solar Cell and RFID businesses. Initially, Mosel Vitelic will be building up its Solar Cell business through turnkey solutions, using technology provided by leading international equipment vendors. In the longer term, Mosel Vitelic will be working to reduce wafer thickness and improve Solar Cell conversion efficiency so as to reduce production costs and strengthen our competitiveness. Through technical cooperation with our partner companies on Thin Film Solar Cell technology, Mosel Vitelic will also be making a major contribution towards protecting the environment through the development of solar energy. In its RFID business, Mosel Vitelic has signed a technology transfer agreement with ITRI (Industrial Technology Research Institute), and established AMOS Technology Inc. to develop high-performance UHF RFID ICs, Antennas, Readers and Tags. Looking ahead to the future, Mosel Vitelic will continue to maximize profits for its shareholders, while at the same time giving due consideration to the well-being of Mosel Vitelic employees. Mosel Vitelic will maintain its focus on IC foundry operations for consumer products, while at the same time initiating new R&D projects to create new drivers of growth for the company. Building on its already strong R&D capabilities, Mosel Vitelic will continue to provide its customers with reliable, high-quality IC foundry services, laying the foundations for perpetual operation and opening the way to a bright future.
