Powerchip Technology Corporation was established in the Hsinchu Science Park in December 1994. Powerchip's major scope of business includes the manufacturing of memory products as well as foundry services. In 1998, Powerchip listed on the Taiwan GreTai Securities Market and in 1999 Powerchip offered its first GDR, becoming the first public company in Taiwan to list on the Luxembourg Stock Exchange. To increase Powerchip's international competitiveness and technology strength, Powerchip upon its establishment began as a technology, production and marketing strategic alliance with Japan's Mitsubishi Electric. Today Powerchip collaborates with Japan's Elpida in research and development, production and marketing of advanced DRAM products. Powerchip also is Japan's Renesas Technology Corporation's major foundry provider, for the development of Renesas' System LSI products. In 2009, Powerchip single-handedly developed and mass produced 4Gb Flash Memory becoming Taiwan's first semiconductor company to possess the ability to market autonomous high density flash memory technology. Powerchip's first 200mm fab (Fab 8A), located in the Hsinchu Science Park, began operations and producing DRAM in 1996, the fab was spun off as a separate entity in 2008 as Maxchip Electronics Company, in order to focus on foundry of specialty DRAM and Driver IC foundry services. Currently Powerchip has three 300mm fabs (Fab P1/P2/P3) with a total capacity of 130K, making Powerchip the largest memory manufacturer in Taiwan. In December of 2006, Elpida and Powerchip established the joint venture Rexchip Electronics in the Central Taiwan Science Park, also beginning an alliance for the production and marketing between Powerchip and Rexchip. Advanced technology, customer service and becoming a consistently profitable world class semiconductor company are our visions. Powerchip with its advanced technology and capacity is able to supply the information, communication and consumer electronics markets, by providing diverse DRAM products, high density flash memory, CMOS image sensors, and diverse foundry services. In the future, Powerchip will continue to form international strategic partnerships, introduce advanced technologies, and steadily invest in expansion, in order to maintain our competitive advantages in the rapidly changing high tech industry. Thus resulting in a mutually beneficial relationship with our customers and truly making Powerchip a Memory Solutions.
