In 1955, Mr. Ting-Fa Yang entered into a partnership and established the Sinon Chemical Factory manufacturing agricultural pesticides. That signified the beginning of the Sinon enterprise. In 1959, the partnership officially incorporated as the Sinon Chemical Co., Ltd. In 1965, the Sinon Chemical Industry Co., Ltd., reorganized two years prior, made substantial capital investments and established a new plant in Wangtien. New manufacturing capacity allowed for the production of technicals and other formulated products such as EC, WP and granules. The facility, which also included biological and chemical research laboratories, became the premier agricultural chemical factory in Taiwan. By 1978, Sinon had successfully consolidated the administration and supporting staff and relocated them into the Sinon Building in Taichung. In a move to boost its operating efficiency and to promote its market competitiveness, Sinon Chemical Industry Co., Ltd., merged with subsidiary operations of the Ming-Feng Chemical Co., Ltd., the Feng Mei Industrial Co., Ltd. And the Feng-Nien Development Co., Ltd. In 1979, the new conglomerate became known as the Sinon Co., Ltd. Beginning in 1982, Sinon established its own pesticide supply centers in order to strengthen domestic sales. The cost savings of direct sales allowed many of the benefits to be passed on to the farmers. In 1989, due to the success of the business expansion, Sinon Co., Ltd. became a public traded company. The stock is listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange. Company founder Mr. T. F. Yang was named the Honorary Chairman; Mr. Wen-Ben Yang succeeded as the new Chairman of the Board and CEO. In order to maintain a healthy level of growth and to develop a long lasting business foundation, Sinon began to diversify from its existing pesticide business. In 1979, the first steps towards diversification began with the construction of a plastics plant at Taya, Taichung County, processing plastic packaging materials. In 1981, Sinon followed up with the opening of a food catering plant at Wu Zier, Taichung, supplying group meals, luncheons, and other food products. Based on the experience and technology gained from the food catering business, Sinon formed a super market division in 1988. The first company owned supermarket opened at Tsao-Tun, Nantou County. The supermarket chain has been growing since then. Up to 2000, Sinon owned 21 supermarket stores plus two independent franchisees. Sinon's supermarket business became the largest franchise in central Taiwan. Sinon has also participated in construction activities. Its developments include Feng-Nien Development Co., Ltd., at Nantou County in 1981, Tung-Chia Enterprise Co. at Taichung City in 1992, Sing-Wei Co. Ltd. At Taichung County in 1993, and a Tung-Chia Nanto plant expansion in 2000. These companies manufacture, market, and sell ready mix cement products. For ensuring the supply of resources, Tung-Chia Co. invested in forming Charn-Hong Ding-Yuan Co., Ltd in 1998. The new company is in rock crushing, formulation and sales. In anticipating the growing trend of communication and computer business, in 1983 Sinon invested and formed Kuo-Shing Communication Co., Ltd. to develop software services business. In 1993, Sinon invested and found Sinon Life Insurance Co., Ltd. Sinon officiall entered into finance/insurance business territory. In 1995, Sinon formed Sinon Professional Baseball Co., Ltd. The team is called Sinon Bulls. In addition to diversifying the business and fulfilling the goals of solidifying foundation in Taiwan and entering into the global business arena, Sinon formed Sinon France Co. in France in 1995 and Sinon Brazil Co. in Brazil in 2000.
