Prime Optical Fiber Corporation (POFC) was established in 1991, received ISO certification in 2000, and publicly listed on Taiwan Stock Exchange in 2002. POFC remains the sole manufacturer of optical fiber in Taiwan, featuring standard single mode fiber for tele-comm, advanced multi-mode fibers for data-comm, and engineering capability in fiber laser and fiber sensor applications. The company mainly offers optical fibers, such as single-mode and multi-mode fibers, gateway-to-gateway protocol (GGP) fibers and specialty fibers; optical fiber cables, including optical curl cords, fan-out cables, rugged drop cables, compact cables and high bending strength fiber patch cords; components/patchcords, including couplers, pump band tap couplers, pump/signal wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) couplers, jumpers and attenuators, and other products, such as mini closures, plastic fiber optical cables, mode converters and fiber bragg gratings (FBG) sensors. The company's specialty fibers include rare-earth doped fibers, photosensitive fibers, short wavelength single mode fibers and no core fibers.
