The Bank is carrying out the business of banking in all forms within and outside the Kingdom of Bhutan , including borrowing money and employing the same, advancing loan with or without security, carrying on various other financial and banking activities such as dealing and trading in bills of exchange, promissory notes, bill of lading, warrants, bonds, debentures, options, futures, forward rate agreements, granting and issuing letter of credit, dealing in foreign exchange etc.
The Bank will also provide commercial or consumer finance and investment advice to its customers.
The Bank was incorporated on November 4,2009 under the companies act of the Kingdom of Bhutan ,2000.
The Bank has opened its branch office in Thimphu, Phuentsholing,WangduePhodrang and Gelephu.Thimphu on 12th March, 2010, Phuntsholing on 21st September 2010, Wangdue on 15th March 2012 and Gelephu on 27th April 2013 respectively.
During the first nine months of its operation, the bank has been able to mobilize deposits aggregating to Nu.1297.21 million as on 30th September 2010 and its portfolio of advances stands at Nu. 822.36 million on the same date.
The Bank became listed on Royal stock exchange of Bhutan in 2011.
