Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company Serbia, previously IBP Beograd a.d., is part of the Coca-Cola Hellenic Group.
U.S. soft drink giant Coca-Cola Co. set foot in former Yugoslavia in 1967 when state-owned beverage company Slovin obtained a license to produce and sell Coca-Cola its products in Serbia and Montenegro. A new Coca-Cola bottling plant was built in Zemun and it started production in September 1968. In 1989, Slovin merged both its bottling operations to form IBP Beograd a.d. In 1997, Greek bottler Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company acquired a 68% stake in IBP via its subsidiary Balkaninvest Services LTD.
In January 2006, Coca-Cola HBC agreed to acquire, jointly with world's largest soft drink maker Coca-Cola Co., a 100% stake in Serbia's top fruit-juice maker Fresh & Co.
In November 2009, Balkaninvest Holdings Limited was liquidated – it was replaced by Amsterdam-based Coca-Cola HBC Balkan Holding, which was incorporated in March 2009, and the shares in the Serbian unit were transferred to the newly established entity.
In autumn 2011, Coca-Cola HBC Balkan Holding became the sole owner of the local arm and it was delisted from the Belgrade stock exchange and transformed into a limited liability company.
The Serbian unit, based in Zemun, operates three bottling plants across the country - Coca-Cola HBC Serbia, Vlasinka and Fresh&Co.
