Serbian retail bank Meridian Banka was founded in 1991 with a capital of USD 10.5 million as Yuco-Bank DD.
Meridian Banka assets totalled RSD 22.536 billion at the end of 2006, while its capital was RSD 2.8 billion.
The Novi Sad-based bank, which operated 108 outlets countrywide at the end of 2006, was the first one to introduce e-banking in former Yugoslavia in October 2002.
In September 2006, the French banking group acquired full control of Meridian Bank by paying EUR 65.07 million to buy out the remaining 29% in the lender.
Credit Agricole has expressed plans to control 10% of the Serbian market within a period of two to three years after setting foot in the country.
In September 2009, the bank was renamed into Credit Agricole Serbia.
The lender operates more than 80 branch offices throughout the country.
