PE Post of Serbia is a successor of the country's public postal service which was introduced in 1840. After a 45-year stint as a state-owned enterprise, PTT was transformed into a public company in 1991. In May 1997, the operator was organised into a holding group and the country's landline monopoly Telekom Srbija was spun off from its structure. In September 2010, PTT Srbija transferred its 80% stake in Telekom Srbija to the Serbian government.
