Sberbank Serbia provides a full range of banking services such as loans, guarantees, various forms of deposits, domestic and foreign payment transactions, exchange transactions, electronic banking.
Sberbank Serbia was initially established in 1992 under the Asna banka name, which was changed in 1997 to Trust banka. In June 2003, Serbia's central bank approved Austrian Volksbank's takeover of Trust Banka for EUR 7.76 million. Oesterreichische Volksbanken AG bought CSD 350.022 million worth of shares from Trust Banka's shareholders and paid an extra CSD 150.0 million to boost the bank's capital.
After a capital hike in September 2003, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) acquired 15% of the bank's equity by investing some EUR 2.6 million. Volksbank Belgrade opened its first three branches in Belgrade in April 2004, launching retail operations only half a year after its business start.
In February 2012 Russia's Sberbank completed the acquisition of Austrian Volksbank International (VBI) and in December the Serbian unit was renamed to Sberbank Serbia.
The lender operates more than 25 branches throughout the country.
